A common "guest" anywhere. This one was in the Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden, early spring.

Scrub Dayflower (Commelina erecta) - The boat-shaped spathes are closed on the side toward the stem, but open on the other side; similar Asiatic dayflower and spreading dayflower spathes are open on both sides/ends. The blue petals are out of the way exposing the other parts of the bloom.
