Every year I have some couples in my garden having nests in the old Ivy and in the Blue Rain on the street side. Here on my terrace.

On 30th August 2007, a young bird which dropped from the Boston Ivy onto my window ledge. It could fly well, being quite mature compared to week old fledglings.

Another young bird in my Acacia dealbata on 28th August 08, looking quite serious. Near Lincoln UK.

On 18th June 2008. Joyfully selecting another twig for a nest, but yet again it was dropped in disgust!

On 29th June 2008, a superior male threatening another on top of my roof, most likely his own offspring!

He won.

The victorious male.

On 30th June 2008. The cheek of him, he came back!
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:12 PM
If I look real mean he will go.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:14 PM
Well, that obviously didn't work!
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:15 PM
Go! Shortly after he did.

On 19th Octber 2007, I spotted this Wood Pigeon land on an Oak trying to get acorns, it gradually toppled! Later the same day I found a female sitting on a nest in the Oak in front of my house.

On 19th October 2007, the female on a nest. I was a little worried as it was cold, and leaves would fall, but they do apparently nest late, maybe as acorns will provide essential food then.

On the 31st October I saw a little fluff over hte nest top, this was on 2nd November.

On 3rd November, a baby taking regurgitated 'milk' from mother's mouth.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:38 PM
On 4th November, two heads peeking out.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:41 PM
On 6th November, a week after hatching, they fledged. I found one on old foliage at the drain side under the tree, it later moved to a better place.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:45 PM
The newly 'fledged' baby could barely fly, but ran to climb up the Oak tree so it could then 'jump' to a shrub at the side of the drain.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:47 PM
It was quite a struggle for such a small baby to climb!
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:49 PM
Once 3 feet or more above the ground, it surveyed it's position.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:51 PM
With a jump and a wobble it managed to cross the drain to a stem it could rest on, in the late afternoon sun.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:52 PM
Once on the stem, it nestled down to feel the sun's warmth on it's back.

On fledging day, as it was getting dark and cold I worried about the young birds' survival. This one sat on a tall dividing fence near the house, then hid behind a large Rhododendron there.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 9:57 PM
Three days after fledging, on 9th November, this one was sat on my apple tree. Mum soon came to feed it. Both survived, and I saw them flying together often.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 10:00 PM
Baby takes food from Mum, as they hold 'arms'. It takes a long time for them to mature and to feed themselves, the parents are wonderfully attentive.
by wallaby1 Dec 28, 2008 10:02 PM
After feeding, mum settled baby then cleaned it's head feathers before leaving. I noticed while still in the nest, she always made sure they were settled before leaving.

On 6th January 2008, one of my nearly mature babies giving me a smile!
