They often hide under the leaves, and drop to the ground if you try to pick them up so put your hand under first!

They don't fly away and can be easily picked up, but will throw themselves over the edge of a leaf even if on top.

Small, long red eggs are laid under the leaf usually in rows of 10 eggs.

The eggs take very little time to hatch, the young larvae cover themselves in excrement, later becoming plump. You can often see the underside which looks like a brown rubber boot bottom.

Found under a lower leaf, this one is just emerging from the 'excrement stage'. They turn into an orange 'blob', I squashed one, too late for a pic!

End of March..first sunshine .. Lily Leaf Beetles are up..they're unlucky to be so colourful..so I can easy spot them to crush..
