German Yellowjacket, European Wasp

This native of Eurasia is a invasive species in North America, The Andes of South America, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand. It is more heat tolerable than Common Yellow Jacket, another nonnative species of wasp, and at current the Internet reports have it centralized in Great Lake states and New England but I won't be surprised if they are already present in the rest of North America except for the boreal forests as they are highly adaptive and the only area in the Old World they are not found is in the tropics. Compare to other common yellow jackets in the Midwest, German Yellow Jacket prefer to nest in cavities - either manmade like between the walls, sheds, attic or in natural cavities like tree hollows, rock piles, etc. So in a way German Yellow Jacket nest like Honey Bees.
